The medical practitioners are said to have been issued with their dismissal letters on Wednesday morning, barely a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that there would be consequences after the doctors rejected a 50 percent pay rise and a Sh600 million increase in allowances offered by the government.
Confirming the dismissal, KNH Chief Executive Officer Lily Koros noted the striking doctors were sacked for desertion adding that the medics had been discouraged against striking.
The hospital further ordered all registrars and medical interns to resume work immediately or be evicted from the staff quarters.
