“I was born in Nairobi, which is why I understand and speak sheng. I was a secret ‘makanga’, at a very young age,” she said in an interview. “I got in the industry before I was 18, but only became a licensed conductor early this year.”
Alessandra speaks fluent Swahili and is currently the official weekend conductor of Kitengela’s matatu Tity Boy aka 2 Chains under Wamasaa Investment.
She says she’s in the business because of the love of Matatus, which, made her relocate from Runda to Kitengela. The decision angered her parents who even wanted to disown her but she did not stop.
